ORCKA Camp Canoe Instructor Course

About the Course

It is beneficial for children’s camps to have certified canoeing Instructors on staff. The Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association (ORCKA) is pleased to announce a Camp Canoeing Instructor (CCI) certification program. This new 2 day program will certify Camp Instructors to teach the ORCKA Basic 1 and 2 program at the camp water front.

The CCI Program will take two days instead of the traditional five days to train a new Basic Instructor. The cost of training will be significantly less than the full five day Basic Instructor course.

What can the CCI do?
He/she can teach and certify ORCKA Canoeing Program Basic 1, 2 &3 in OCA member youth camps (who are also ORCKA Organizational members)
This activity will be confined to the camp waterfront. The camp will provide “lifeguard supervision” during the on-water activities.

This new program gives Camps the flexibility and ability to certify their own ORCKA Instructors “from within”. It provides the required teaching aids. Considering the basic skills actually being taught in most cases the CCI Instructor will suite the Camps needs.
